We don’t tend to see our thoughts as invited; instead we see them as originated by us, but that is impossible.

In order for us to originate our thoughts we would have to know what we were attempting to “say” in each moment of thinking, and that would mean that we need to know each thought before we think it — veritably thinking of the thought before we think it! — resulting in an insurmountable paradox.
